Police Blotter for Jan. 4, 2013

Only one arrest for shoplifting Thursday. Not much else going on.

A juvenile left a local school at about 12:30 in the afternoon, telling staff he was going to jump in front of a car. He was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation voluntarily.

There were a few instances of larceny reports and a few arrests based on warrants, but as Lt. John Catone explained to me last week when I asked about them, they are often bench warrants issued by judges.

He said bench warrants mean that a judge orders police to bring someone before him/her. Often, Catone said, the people are let go after court and it doesn’t actually constitute an arrest.

Furthermore, he said if someone is arrested for the first time on a warrant, they report it to us as a new arrest.

Thursday it looks like there were four or five, but none were reported as arrests in the blotter.

Thanks for posting these - they are interesting and provide a nice overview of a general day - not just what is reported in the various newspapers.

Will you be posting these on a regular schedule ?

Hi Anonymous,
I'm trying to make it a regular schedule. After having a few days off, I post the ones that came while I was gone. So today, I'll publish the blotters from the last three. Sorry, it is going to be as regular as my work schedule, which is not very — as you might imagine.
